Big weekend at NCTM; Studebakers, pirates, and trains!

SPENCER - The North Carolina Transportation Museum has a particularly busy weekend planned with several events that should be fun for anyone.

One of the events is the classic Studebaker Show on Saturday. The company was founded to provide transportation for miners, but later developed into a major American car company, responsible for such models as the Commander, the President, Avanti, and believe it or not, the Dictator.

Sacred art on display in Salisbury now, available to churches in the Carolinas

SALISBURY - A display of spiritual art created by well known, Salisbury based artist, the late Robert Doares, is now on display at St. John's Lutheran Church in Salisbury.

Partnership with Railroad Earth To Bring Added Creative To Festival

Tickets On Sale Friday, April 5, 2012 at 10 a.m. EST

Music On the Mountaintop, the annual music festival outside Boone, North Carolina has announced that the eclectic festival will return this August 24-26, 2012 as Railroad Earth's Music on the Mountaintop. Celebrating its fifth year, Music on the Mountaintop is expanding to include three full days of music, including two nights of Railroad Earth and other special events on Sunday with the band. Having played the previous two Music on the Mountaintop festivals the Americana-based band will be taking on a bigger role, helping to curate the lineup for 2012. More artists and festival details will be announced in the coming weeks.

Amtrak anniversary at North Carolina Transportation Museum

SPENCER - As mentioned in a prior story, the Amtrak 40th Anniversary Train is on display at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer this weekend.

On Friday WBTV was given a media preview to shoot some video and a few photographs of the exhibition.

Albemarle wins N.C. Main Street Program honor

ALBEMARLE - Commerce Secretary J. Keith Crisco presented 21 awards to participants in the N.C. Main Street Program last week and the City of Albemarle received a Main Street Champion honor, a release from the Governors office said.

Floyd Eudy with the Albemarle Downtown Development Corporation was named as a 2011 N.C. Main Street Champion.

Main Street Champions are nominated by their local N.C. Main Street programs for the remarkable contributions they have made to the downtown revitalization process in their communities. Thirty-one individuals were honored for their contributions in 2011.

Premiering at the Neighborhood Theatre (511 E. 36th Street, Charlotte, NC, 28205), on Saturday, February 4, 2012, QCBF is exclusive to the Charlotte-area breweries that are putting the Queen City on the craft beer map.
