Midland moving in the right direction

Midland moving in the right direction

MIDLAND -  It's one of the newest towns in our area, and right now, it's one of the few places showing significant economic growth and real potential. The town of Midland is in Cabarrus County, and today WBTV learned about surprising new projects coming to town that should benefit this whole area.

Midland is in the middle, near four other cities, but far from mediocre.

"Midland is open for business," said Mayor Kathy Kitts. "We are growing and we have the lowest combined tax rate in Cabarrus County."

That's the word from Kitts, talking on Tuesday to other mayors, business, and civic leaders from across Cabarrus County at the annual state of the region summit.

Kitts has a positive story to tell, and so do her constituents.

SALISBURY - A crowd of up to 60,000 is expected for this weekend's annual Autumn Jubilee at Dan Nicholas Park off Bringle Ferry Road in Rowan County.

On Friday dozens of craft and food vendors were setting up tents in the parking lot near the putt putt course and playground.  Hundreds of tables and chairs are in place, and park workers were scurrying to have everything in place for the big crowds that are expected.

The festival will be on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

This Weekend in Stanly County

This Weekend in Stanly County

STANLY COUNTY (Bridget Huckabee, Stanly County Convention and Visitors Bureau) - One word can describe February weather here in our region: variety.

That word also describes February events here in Stanly County. We have jewelry and bridal shows, a running event, basketball games, and dance competitions.

If you haven’t already checked out the jewelry show From the Heart, at Falling Rivers Gallery, now is the time. The show lasts through Saturday so you can still catch it. It is an event not to be missed with booths and tables filled with one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry designed and made by local artists.
