This Weekend in Stanly County

(By Bridget Huckabee) - Rain or shine, this is a lovely time of the year in Stanly County. A wet spring has given up lush green pastures and hay-making is in full swing. Fields are filled with great rolls of hay ready for the barn and for winter feeding. Winter wheat fields look like green ocean waves in the wind and the corn is sprouting higher almost as you watch. Already, visitors are flocking to Morrow Mountain for camping and hiking, and kayaks, canoes and speed boats ply the waters of the lakes.

There are three outdoor events to enjoy this weekend in Stanly County featuring music, unique cars and trucks, and our very own Farmers’ Market.

Start your weekend with Thursdays at the Station, a free weekly concert put on by the Albemarle Parks and Recreation department.  Each week on this day from May through August, Market Station in downtown Albemarle comes alive with music, all types of music from gospel to rock and from pop to bluegrass.
